Welcome to Brownside

The cottage is easily found, but quietly tucked away above the hamlet of Henshaw in the South Tyne Valley. On one side is the North Pennines area of outstanding natural beauty and Northumberland National Park on the other. When it comes to places to see, you are spoiled for choice - Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site is a Roman stone's throw away, beyond that is Kielder Forest, the largest of its kind in Europe.

Even if you go no further than along the South Tyne Valley, you'll find lots of small market towns and picturesque villages like Hexham and Corbridge. Visit historic Allen Banks, for a walk along the secluded River Allen. If you want to get active, bring your canoe, mountain bike, golf clubs or running shoes - there's plenty of chances to use them. Bring a good book, stretch out on the patio and recharge your batteries.

    If you want to make your meals with local ingredients bought from a farmers market, you'll find everything here to make the perfect dish. Or if you decide on one of the local takeaways from Haydon Bridge or Haltwhistle, we have a full range of cooker, microwave, toaster and table settings. And there's a built in dishwasher to take all the work out of washing up. Should you need it you have a washing machine/drier and of course a fridge and separate freezer

    Relax in this generous space, with it's french windows leading outside for alfresco dining, or snuggle up with a real fire in the evenings and watch one of our library of DVDs and videos. On those long Northumberland summer evenings you'll want to sit outside on the patio swing and listen to a CD from our collection, as the sun set casts a warm glow along the South Tyne Valley before you.

    King-size luxury in a deluxe bed should make sleep a welcome part of your stay. There's a walk-in wardrobe with security safe. The en-suite bathroom features a whirlpool bath to relax in after all those strenuous activities. There's a TV for relaxed viewing.

    Jacuzzi bath with shower to add to a relaxing stay.

  • Second Bedroom

    It may only sleep one, but you have a full-sized bed all to yourself. It has plenty of wardobe space and your own TV to watch late night movies.
